I am happy to announce the release of yet another version of
SLiteChat. Please see the
downloads page.
Features:
- For Local Chat and Group Chat, I added a new pane (with a splitter handle) that contains the AVs you are chatting with. For Local Chat, this includes a list of nearby AVs, and for Group Chat this is for each AV in the chat.
- Added automatic Google translation feature. In your preferences, you can choose to turn this feature on and select your local language (or System for the language defined in your system). You can optionally choose to conceal source text and only view translated text. The way it works is that when a message arrives (in Local Chat, IMs or Group Chat), the message is routed first to the Google Translate. If the translation is reliable (a confidence code of > 0.15) then the text is automatically translated from the detected language to your own.
Bug Fixes:
- At present, none in this release.
Known Issues:
- The context menu for changing the remote person's language away from automatic sensing is not hooked up yet. Also in IMs there is no way to change this either.
- Still need to add the ability to 1) leave a group and 2) search for groups to join.
- The Mac OS/X client may crash when you try to edit the font. Or it will exhibit strange behavior.
- When restarting SLiteChat, the state of the docked Friends and Groups lists windows are not remembered and revert to normal state.
Feedback:
As always, I would
love feedback on this project. I really want to improve this and make it as useful as possible. Oh and I myself use this thing. If you are on
Second Life and want to chat with me in-world, look up
Dooglio Mode, or just drop me an
email.
